US highway 275 through Cuming County in eastern Nebraska. Notorious county cops and city cops. The towns include West Point, Beemer and Wisner. Be especially careful when traveling east as there is no sign on the highway telling you that you are entering Cuming County. When westbound hit the brakes just after junction where nebraska highway 91 splits off. Cuming county uses traffic as a form of revenue.
Comment (4/2006): Wisner drops from 40 mph to 25 mph
Comment (3/2006): I grew up in Cuming County (now live in Omaha) and can attest to it being a difficult county to speed through. US highway 275 is patrolled pretty well by law enforcement and they will ticket you for speeding. I have had friends of mine who have driven above the speed limit all through Nebraska and only get nailed in Cuming County. The previous poster noted that counties in Nebraska cannot use fines obtained from speeding tickets for school funds. Regardless, I like to think that the County officials are more concerned about safety and limiting deaths on the highways in the county as the reason for enforcing speed limits.
Comment (2/2006): Traffic fine money goes to the state for school systems--not the county. Cuming county can't use traffic as a form of revenue.
Comment (3/2006): I agree this is a low speed highway. But the highway is clearly marked with multiple signs informing correct speed limit. Through West Point (approx. 2 miles long) there has to be 6-7 signs (each way) showing speed limit
