One in particular is after a bridge.. right after the boston market in mahwah! once you see boston market...SLOW DOWN! right after the bridge there will be a cop and he will pull you over for doing 56!! along that whole highway though is terrible!
Comment (11/2003): Mahwah police like to setup there often, as there is a college (Ramapo) that is accessed via a nearby exit. I disagree with being harrassed for 1 MPH over the limit (they're not that bad). I drive that route rather frequently, and have never had a problem doing a few over the limit. But I certainly wouldn't push it... even I slow down when passing through.
Comment (11/2003): The worst cops in this area are the County police. Even "local cops" I have spoken with admit this. So be wary of the County Mounties. They are especially fond of landscaper's trucks, contractor's trucks, etc -- anything with a commercial plate. I actually kept pace with a landscaper truck once, driving behind it for several miles. I didn't see anything weird, but the County Mounty apparently did, as he flashed the red & blue lights behind me (I got a fright thinking I did something wrong) and pulled the landscaper over.

Comment (09/2007): All these comments are basically true for the most part. I\'ve never got a ticket for going a couple of miles over the limit like the one guy said. Most of the towns are tough along 17 . Bergen country cops are just the biggest ass----s going. They are real dicks because they will get you for the really small stuff. Could be the silliest violation and not just one . You will get at least two or more if you get stopped. The one guy is right ....it is a cash cow . They need the income that is why we get harrased. This is bad law enforcement when you try to get income for a light you didn\'t even know was blown out . Shame on the county and their stool pigeons.

Going southbound on the GSP (from the NY Thurway), after you pass the first rest stop in NJ, slow down. You will come upon a large hill on your left and if you notice, tire tracks going up it. If you look sometimes you will see buried in the trees a police car watching you after you pass that area. Too many times I have seen another police car tag someone going faster than the 65 MPH. They are sneaky doing this as more often than not, you will breeze past the trooper hidden, only to meet another down the road.
