New Jersey state troopers have to be the most strictest police department in enforcing motor vehicle laws in the country. They can be observed everywhere from behind trees and signs to parked on the median strip!Make sure you always obey the posted speed limit while on your way to atlantic city or the shore points or you just might be meeting one of these fine officers when you'd least like to be...when they pull you over! :)
Comment (3/2004): Yes! watch out, there are 42 MPH IND. K-55 X-band Mov-Sta radar on the ACE, They are all peaked and tuned,be careful!
Comment (4/2004): Yup, they will bust your stones for going a few miles over the limit, however, you will NEVER see them pull over a casino bus tour going to Atlantic City. All the buses routinely speed at 80mph or more (time is money!) Any NJ State Policeman knows it is career suicide to go after Casino Buses on either the AC Expressway or the Garden State Parkway.
Comment (4/2004): Going towards atlantic city, they love to hide out between the rest stop and the $2 toll booth so watch out, They love to sit on those little access roads and nail some poor soul. I routinly go 70 by them and they have never come after me but I wouldn't want to push it any further than that....
Comment (7/2005): Travel A/C Expressway very frequently and have my cruise control at 75 and have never been stopped.
Comment (5/2004): Going west on the ACE, about a mile before you get to the end of the ACE, a state trooper sometimes sits on the right hand side of the road, behind the trees, waiting to nail you. If only they used that energy to go after criminals. And it is true, I never saw a Casino bus pulled over for speeding, and they usually pass me, and i'm usually doing around 80.
Comment (8/2004): I totally disagree with these comments. I travel down the ACE often from Rt 73 and I never see anyone pulled over. The flow of traffic is often 80-85mph and I have never gone slower than 75mph on the ACE. I am often passed by exotic and luxury cars going 90+. Usually, there are 1-2 cops camped out in the center in plain sight on my trips. I guess your results may vary.
Comment (11/2004): 90mph+ in nj is an automatic wreckless driving ticket with 6 months suspension. agree they hide all over I used to travel the road every morning to school up in camden county so I can just about tell you ever single spot they hide. X band is common radar used even though its old.
Comment (5/2005): I use the ACE 10 times a week and I put my cruise control on 78. just slow down to 74mph or less when passing a no U-TURN sign. 90% of the time they are hiding right where the u trun is.
Comment (6/2005): DISAGREE! I live in Atlantic City. I do not see many state troopers are all on the Express Way. The posted sign is 65. I do 80 all the time, I have had state troopers seen me do 80 and they do not do anything. Anything above id say 80 or even 75 be carefuk. But other then that you should be fine.
Comment (6/2005): I see NJ State police on the ACE all the time. Although I noticed that they pull people over for going 15 MPH over, busses are rarely pulled over anywhere because the bus companies are able to pay for lawyers to fight tickets that bus drivers recieve.
Comment (7/2005): State Police, Sheriff Officers, and local city or county police all have jurisdiction on the Expressway.State Police frequent the parkway more then the x'way, however, they are on the x'way also. They are liberal as long as you are safely driving keeping up with the flow usually 75ish. They ar trying to keep it safe and AC x'way has few accidents means the Police are doing their jobs.
Comment (9/2005): buses get pulled over the thing is they (TRoOPers)no we have lic, and insur, and reg.. and where not drunk but some one driveing a car they fill like they have a better chance of giving a tickit or getting you on a warrent that why you dont see buses pulled over to much.
Comment (9/2005): I,m bus driver in NJ and i use the Atlantic city Express every day they will get you the speed limit from ex 5 to ac is 55 and from ac to ex 5 it is 55 they hide out on the first been comeing out of ac in the morning every moring from 5am to 11 am then again around rush hour 3:pm to 6:pm. they all so hide out by the first brige coming out of ac alot .My advice if your on the ac expressway coming in to ac at about 7 to 8 miles from ac do the speed limit 55mph trust me i see them every day pulling people over for speeding another place is in between the trees on the ex way like after the new york exit gone towards philly o my god they hide there faithfully in between the media you will never see until your up on them then it,s to late. one more thing when an on coming bus or truck flashes he's highbeam's belive there is a statetrooper hiding that you cant see so slow down..
Comment (10/2005): Heading west on AC X-Way after the Blue Anchor exit, cops hide behind the next overpass up behind the trees. After this they hide out in all the u-turns so after you pass the Blue Anchor slow down before hitting the next overpass.
Comment (02/2008): In January of 2008 we saw a NJ state police vehicle on the Atlantic City Expressway. It was a 2008 White Corvette. Be careful.
Comment (03/2008): I don\'t believe it. How do you know it was NJSP?
