Be very careful when traveling on Route 22 in Bridgewater. The police are very nice here, very professional. But they will pull you over for going 65 or higher. Traveling West Bound, after the Felix Diner which is located in the median, there will be a local officer parked behind the trees. After the Midas there will be two more traps. Two officers always parked together after the Lone Star in the center of the highway. Then after the exit for the Sommerville circle past the mall on the right, there will be another officer facing on coming traffic. If you are traveling East Bound there will be an officer waiting to meet you in the Methodist Church parking lot.

Comment (8/2002): There are always cops parked across the street from Days Inn on Route 22 East.
Comment (3/2003): There is also a cop that sits at the enterance of The Red Bull Inn. That is also where the speed limit drops from 65 to 55.
Comment (9/2003): The speed limit on Route 22 in Bridgewater is now a solid 55 in most places. If you hit 65 and over they will pull you over, so 60 is your best bet while cruising through. Also doesn't hurt that this is a very dangerous stretch of highway--my office is located on the eastbound side and I've seen some bad collisions.
Comment (12/2003): Bridgewater PD also likes to hide behind trees on the median on Rt 22 west opposite the Honda dealer and before the Grove Street ramp. Apparently a lawyer complained about fast moving traffic and they have made that a frequent place for enforcement. Plus you can't see the patrol car until you're right on top of them. Also beware of the old weigh station beyond the Lonestar restaurnt in the median. Both state police and Bridgewater like to sit there.

Allen Road is a small, but heavily used road that connects Route 202/206 with Foothill Road. It is only about 1/4 mile long. Allen Road is densely wooded on either side, and so motorists often do not see a small intersecting road about halfway in. A cop car often sits on that tiny road, and will nail you for anything higher than 30. At night time there is no way to see the cop until it's too late.

Speed trap is located when heading eastbound on Old York Rd., towards Raritan. Cop sits just at the bottom of the hill before a bridge. Posted speed limit is 35 MPH, but you can easily go down that hill at more that 45 MPH without stepping too much on the gas pedal. I got caught by surprise at 11PM at night, Sunday. Officer claimed he clocked me at 51 MPH.

Right as you come onto 287 Southbound from 22, (I believe thats exit 14ish if youre already on 287) Theres a line of trees and a hill on the left hand side in the median, a cop backs up the hill and basically hides inside the forest, which is pretty much impossible to see unless you turn all the way around and look for it, or are on the other side of the highway.

Rt22 westbound right after Rt 202/206 intersection. Many westbound traffic turn off into Rt 202/206, the road suddenly opens up and invites you to pass the 55 mph limit. But beware, a cop car is often sitting on your side road shoulder, behind a curvy wooded area. It's already too late if you see him. Some time the cop sits in the median, at the same location, to watch traffic of both directions.

I travel between Bridgewater and Branchburg on Rt22 every day and often see other motorists got pulled over, both directions. No permanent traps, cop car likes any turn off spots on the wooded median where the road curves, or simply patrol the road. Bridgewater cops seem to have incentives to work extra hard, so stay within 60 mph in this section of 22.
Comment (3/2004): Dead On :-)
Comment (8/2002): There are always cops parked across the street from Days Inn on Route 22 East.

Traveling west on 78, right at exit 29 where traffic from 287 merges into 78 west. Speed trap is behind the woods in the median, on your left. Hard to see and too late if you are over 70 mph anyway.
