Comment (9/2002): I used to deliver in Blairstown on Rt 94, never did I get a ticket nor even see a police officer in that town, most people get tickets because they deserve them, slow down, observe local limits, dont do anything stupid, u wont get a ticket. Be an idiot, u will get snatched eventually.
Comment (1/2003): I completely disagree with the above post, I will submise that the author is under 20 years old or just being reckless through our small rural town. I live in Blairstown and drive on Route 94 as a part of my normal life. I have never received a speeding ticket on the road and never have seen a trap on the open part of the road. Occasionally, there will be a speed trap on the "populated" part of 94, but this is for safety's sake. You will not receive a ticket for doing 40 in the 35, but if you are are going 60 then it is another matter. The Blairstown police force if friendly and helpful.
Comment (3/2003): I live in Blairstown and have for the last 23 years. Blairstown Police are on a total power trip and are at best out of control. I own a scanner and have been witness to blairstown's gastapo tactics. They've been known to ride up on your bumper in an unmarked car and get you to speed into a trap. They've been known to targeted certain drivers, following them and issueing any violation they can drum up. They also love out of state plates, some times specifically pulling them over because of the lack of legal rebuttal. Since Blairstown now only has one passing zone on rt 94 you can rest assured that they will be there or in town where there is a speed limit transition. Keep in mind that this is a small town with the bulk of their calls rounding up loose horses or cows. They currently have 7 units, 2 being unmarked and need to justify their jobs. It's a business and you are the unwilling customer.
Comment (3/2003): I have NEVER had a problem with BPD, not on Rt. 94 of elsewhere. The easyest way to avoid a speeding ticket is NOT TO SPEED.
Comment (5/2003): Rt. 94 is one of my favorite rides. I might have seen a police car once ore twice going through the town, but was never stopped even though I normally go 5 to 10 MPH above speed limit.
Comment (06/2008): Blairstown police are understaffed and very underpaid, i used to work as an officer in Blairstown pd-it is the weirdest most f---ed up place on earth. Everything you do is second guessed and the residents feel that if you write them a ticket you are a jerk-off power hungry cop. SLOW down all you good ole boys and obey the posted signs and you won\'t get a ticket-GLAD to be working in a real police dept. now!!
