Allenhurst is about the size of a football field, but they do have a formidable police force, and they LOVE to sit right behind the sign where Deal Rd. turns from 40 to 25. WATCH OUT!!! They hit me going 31 in the 25 five feet past that sign...DON'T SPEED IN ALLENHURST
Comment (5/2003): Watch the side-streets bordering Ocean Ave through that section. They LOVE to pull people over in that tiny speedtrap they call a town.
Comment (5/2003): Ocean Avenue between the borders of Asbury & Deal is also notorious. It's a 25 mph zone for the 2 or 3 blocks of Allenhurst, then immediately becomes a 40 mph zone in Deal. On a weekend night Allenhurst's generally looking to nail people coming from Asbury with drugs, which means every other car gets pulled over.
Comment (7/2003): You're supposed to be given 500 feet to slow down and adjust to the new speed limit when it changes, i think there is a law about that too, so if you fight this ticket then that could be a defense, if you got caught going over 40 in a 25 don't even try this defense
Comment (11/2003): I agree and also I got pulled over because i didn't have my right signal on. When I showed the cop I did and the bulb was blown and I was on my way to get it fixed he then made up another reason to ticket me he said I didn't yield to a truck - there was no truck but since I was alone in the car its my word against his. This was on Corlies Ave between Ocean and Main Street.
Comment (01/2008): First of all, if you get stopped doing 40 or more in a 25, then you deserve the ticket you got!! One of the main reasons why the speed limit drops from 40 to 25 is the road is much more narrow and there is a serious curve on Ocean Avenue in Allenhurst....I used to live near that curve and have seen many accidents there, including one where the car almost went all the way up to a house...My message to the Allenhurst cops is KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!

The speed drops from 40 to 25 as you enter the town of Allenhurst. The police sit on the first or second side street and clock you before you can slow down.
