On NM-528 Northbound - after you pass alameda going into corrales, there is a Chevron gas station. Usually late at night 2 cop cars will park side by side, leave their K band radar on, and turn all of their lights off so as not to be noticeable by an average driver.

Comment (6/2005): The jurisdiction is Corrales not Albuquerque and the cops run radar everywhere in that community. They do not have an accident problem because the highest speed is 35 on the main street. They will write you for 5mph over. As you enter the village a sign states "Drive Slow See Our Village, Drive Fast See our Judge" You do not want to see the judge.

Comment (8/2005): ha! good one Corrales!

Comment (11/2005): the speed traps in corrales are designed to protect the santa fe hippies in that town. as far as im aware it is working. maybe other departments should implement this as the people of new mexico cant drive to save thier lives

Comment (3/2006): To the driver with the "this as the people of new mexico cant drive to save thier lives", I have lived in 13 states before New Mexico, and this statement is so far out of line it's obvious. You brave enough to tell us where you're from? This trap is well known amongst most drivers traveling at that time of night. Corrales is not exactly shy about outsiders. (No, I live in the NE heights, just know plenty that live around the Corrales entrances.)

Comment (4/2006): I agree with NM drivers can not drive, I too have lived all over the US at first I thought they were just rude, then I realized they drive as if they are the only ones on the road totaly unaware of anyother driver. I lived in NM for 5 years. And was amazed at the number of wrecks every day. I also lived in Corrales and was only stopped once for not wearing my seat belt. I don't believe in speed traps but sometimes it pays to obey the limit.

Comment (12/2007): Sounds to me like you can clear these obstacles with judicious use of a strong radar detector (V1) and not \"overdoing\" it when around other cars (from a visual sense). Is this correct? I\'m driving through here on the way to CA and expect to do the trip rather quickly...
