As your driving north 550 /main the speed limit goes from 45 mph and as you drive down a hill into town it goes to 25 mph. The Police sit in a dirt lot on the east side of the road right behind a big tree so you won't see them until your passed them. they will usually stop and write for speeds over 10 mph. They also roam up and down main very often

Comment (4/2004): Going out of Bloomfield on my way to Aztec that 5 mile stretch between towns is bad. Late at night i was driving through and i had not seem any other cars on the road but all of a sudden out of no where a cop is making a u turn from the other lane of traffice to stop me. It was about midnight. WATCH OUT!

Posted 55 mph speed limit is in a rural area north of Aztec, NM, which is a small town in itself. There is no reason why the limit should be reduced from 65 mph to 55 mph so far (approximately 10 miles) from such a small community.

Watch for undercover Brown Ford F150, hard to see grill lights. They use marked units constantly between Aztec city limits on Hwy 550. City limits are located south of the hill outside Bloomfield heading towards Aztec. Beware of the hill top too, they may sit the other side in the median. Follow all posated signs into Aztec.
