You start to come down an incline and boom, you have 6 or 7 Highway patrol waiting. There were a lot of people pulled over. My alternator had gone out and my battery was almost dead so the needles on my speedometer and RPM gauges were bouncing. Speedometer needle was jumping from 60 to 70mph. I was keeping with the flow of traffic. When pulled over I was told I was doing 91mph. I told him my speedometer read between 60 & 70 he just blew me off.. Then I went to start my car and nothing. So again I told him what was going on. He did not care. He was going to leave my daughter and myself there and I said can you jump us, he did but the car was toast. So I had to ask him to call a tow truck. He said ok, then took off to go sit with thee other Highway Patrol.. I saw him site 3 or 4 more cars while waiting for towtruck.

Comment (10/2004): Got caught in the same place just a few days ago, October 2004. There's a small incline and then a quick drop and I saw a patrol car waiting. Told me I was doing 93 but ticketed me for 85. Was told that he saw my front end dip down as I hit the brakes when I saw him.

Comment (12/2004): Nevada is lucky ,come on! this is the only state where even two lane roads allow a speed limit of 70 mph at all times, no night or truck restriction unlike Texas and Montana where it's 65 at night (-10 for trucks d/n in MT)

sr 56 is a desolated desert road. Coming down from the mountain it approaches 95 as a flat, empty, straight road with unlimited vision. There are no crossroads...just long straight roads. There were no posted speed limit signs that I saw. I had my cruise control set at 70 and was approached from the opposite direction by a patrol car with flashing lights and cited for 78mph in a 55 mile zone. The officer said it was radar, but did not explaine. The speed limit is very unrealistic under the conditions described above. It is a set up for creating speeding violations
