One vehicle will slow you down traveling at 48 mph then speed up to about 63 and slow again to 48 when you adjust your speed to the speed limit again at the time you come upon the motorist in front of you and adjust again if you are too close to the vehicle in front of you you will get a ticket for "Following too close" Even when traveling at speed limit or below speed limit. The observation of the distance you are "following" is based on an instantaneous observation and not a fair observation of how you are or have adjusted your speed to the erratic motorist in front of you. The way the motorist was driving was in concert with the location of the officer. There is no way I can prove if they are working together or if the motorists action in front of me were as if they may have been picking up radar signals on a radar detector? But this motorist was driving in a manner anybody following would be in a position to have to adjust his distance and be unable to maintain a consistent flow of his speed without coming upon the behind of the vehicle impeding the flow of traffic.
Comment (12/2002): That is douglas county for you. Anywhere in the Minden / Gardnerville area you are likely to get a ticket even for the most moronic violation. Even more likely if there is nothing going on in town. I have had a friend get a ticket for 27 MPH in a 25 MPH zone in Minden. Area patrolled by local Douglas County and NHP. The NHP are less likely to stop you unless you are doing more than 10 MPH over the posted limit
Comment (10/2002): The ticket I rec'd was phony. I was going 70 mpr on cruise control the cop said I was going 80 mph who do you think the judge will believe?
Comment (3/2004): It all depends on who the officer is, and what mood he's in. That's all it is; My classmate(I'm in high-school) got pulled over doing 47 in a 25 on the way to school and cried her way out of it. You can normally get away with 35-40 through town, but keep an eye out for the middle-school zone in town and around the town of Genoa for the county mounties.Motorcycle cops also sit at the end of the 55 zone at the north end of the valley and gun cars already accelerating to reach 65.NHP cars also sit in the medians of US 395 through the valley.BEWARE! Local NHP now use unmarked cars: Known are a black, late-model Impala, deep-black tint, and a dark green, late-model Bonneville, tinted windows.I've seen other cars make traffic stops also--One by a white Ford CV, not sure if there was a light-bar on it or not. New DCSO vehicles have LED bars--similar to slick-tops, hard to see, and have radar-detector detectors/jammers.
