There is not a whole lot of traffic on this road, yet you will always see the Nevada Highway Patrol out here. Since it is out in the middle of nowhere, this tempts many motorists to speed. Don't let it! I saw people get pulled over in the same place three nights in a row here one time. Furthermore, Nevada is one state where they have no qualms about hauling extreme speeders off to jail where you'll be locked up with all sorts of real criminals. Not a fun way to spend your Vegas vacation.

Comment (4/2004): Drove this way a few years ago going from Vegas to Tahoe. Luckily I had read other posts on this site, and I did see lots of unmarked Crown Vics with lots of antennas on the trunk.

Comment (4/2004): there is a gas station and a little casion, that's where you could see 6-7 NHP cars ot once, some Ford Expedition, some regular crown vics

Comment (8/2004): This stretch is horrible. about once a month is it always patroled

Comment (07/2008): Received ticket 6/25/08 for 60 in a 45 just before(100 yds perhaps at most) the 70 MPH sign to resume speed. State police stated I hadn\'t passed the sign yet. Tried to pay ticket by computer and was told that it would not be in the system for ten to twelve weeks. Court schedule date 9/22/08(When they nschedule the court date). I\'d fight it but it would cost more to return from Oregon than to just pay the fine. I was screwed and didn\'t even visit a brothel!!:-(

Right before entering the one road town of Indian Springs. This is a military base about 35 miles north of Las Vegas. Speed goes from 70 to 25 through town. But they will get you just outside of town when the limit states reduced speed.
