The town of Altamont,NY makes a sizeable chunk of dough off of traffic infractions.The speed limit in town is 30.Obey it at all times.This is a small community and the police force has time on their hands.Don't give them an opportunity to stop you.

Comment (5/2005): AGREE! I was arrested in altamont for REVING MY ENGINE! of course the chargers were dropped.

Comment (7/2005): one thing everyone should know about Altamont....If you do your research half the police force are NOT qualified on the radar. If the officer is not qualified on the radar they can not issue a ticket for speeding. So ask to see the officers qualifications at the village hall...

Comment (3/2006): I never pass through Altamont without having my radar detector go off. The police academy is just up the road, so they let the recruits practice on the unsuspecting. In addition to 146, watch out for cops on Gun Club Road looking not just for speeders but also people doing a California stop on either end. Note: Guilderland police also have time on their hands, so watch out especially when you go through Guilderland Center on Route 146.
