Asharoken village police run a illegal speed trap.The posted speed limit is at 30mi at least 15mi under average speed.The speed limit is severely underposted .The police target nonresident drivers to support the village.

Comment (5/2006): Good Luck Complaining. The Speed Limit is posted right in front of the Village Office/PD Headquarters Just Past the First Bend after the long Downhill From Northport. If you do not want a Ticket, 29 is a must

Comment (9/2005): i agree, my husband was caught in that trap while driving a company van, going downhill fully loaded. he was going 10 miles over and got pulled over and now we have to pay a $100 fine. this is not fair that they target non-residents. who can i complain to about this?

Comment (7/2006): The fact is the posted speed linit is 30MPH. its a residential area with a lot of people in the area. I got a ticket there, argued it and got it busted down to almost nothing.
