Asharoken is a village on a peninsula with its own police force (only for Asharoken)and it connects Eatons Neck to the town of Northport. The only way to get to town from Eatons Neck is to go through this 2way road (Asharoken Ave) The cops hide in people's driveways and behind trees. any kind of bush will do. Speed limit is 30-do NOT go above 34-35. all sorts of incredibly stupid tickets have been issued. by the way, usually you cant mail in the ticket. you are given a summons and have to appear in the Asharoken Village Court. Heavy fees and rude cops. Watch out!

Comment (3/2003): Asharoken police especially like holidays. Expect road block "checks" on holidays, i.e., New Years, Christmas, St. Patrick's Day, 4th of July etc. I agree with the previous comments, cops are rude & "sick".

Comment (3/2003): I grew up in Asharoken and lived there 27 years too long.I never got a speeding ticket but have seen many friends coming to see me get one. It's rather pathetic plus it is a major kangaroo court there. Just all sucks in general.

Comment (6/2003): I live in Eatons Neck and feel that the Asharoken Police do a fine job keeping the rif-raf and undesireables out of my neighborhood. They might be strict, but if you lived here you would appreciate their work

Comment (7/2003): I have lived in Eaton's Neck for over 20 years. Yes the Asharoken Police are very strict but they have only increased my property value and kept my nieghborhood safe from criminals. Do 30 m.p.h. and you wont have a problem. Teens beware, no fooling around with your car and dont mess with the cops in Asharoken. Believe it or not they do make many arrests.

Comment (5/2005): I lived in Huntington, and of course, knew not to speed in Asharoken. One day, I was traveling the speed limit as usual, but when I went down the slight hill from Eaton's Neck to Asharoken, my speed accelerated very slightly by a few miles. Halfway down the hill, I checked my speed (it had been 15 - 20 seconds, at best, that my speed went above 30, since I checked my speedometer religiously) and corrected my speed, but it was too late. I was ticketed. I can understand the need to enforce speed limits, but that was ridiculous. Even the DA who looked at the incident thought it was ridiculous. Beware, beware, beware when you travel on that road.

Comment (06/2007): The Ashaorken Police are not serving and protecting, rather they are just out to write tickets without being unreasonable. If you go over 35 you are guaranteed to get a ticket by the cop. Their favorite place to hide is near the dunns where their are no homes on either side of the street. The cops are also very prideful and proud. It doesnt matter how much you beg or politely explain your case, you will get ticket.

Comment (03/2008): Listen up guys, I live in Northport, but have unfortunately had the experience of having to drive through eatons neck once or twice a day. Like an idiot, for the longest time I could not believe why everyone was going 30 mph. For a while I was just passing people left and right, and absolutely flying down asharoken av and eatons neck rd. I realized this was a stupid move after being pulled over twice in a month. These people don\'t mess around. Long Island is notorious for fast motorists, but not Eatons Neck. It is my assumption that it has the highest ratio of officers to residents of any place in the United States, maybe even the world. These corrupt ticket nazis will stop at no costs to squeeze every penny out of you. AVOID THIS SMOLDERING INFERNO AT ALL COSTS!

Comment (03/2008): The police in Asharoken are the most unreasonable and rude police I have ever encountered in my 65 years of living on Long Island. They will pull you over for ONE mile over the speed limit and their court system is an absolute joke. If you live there, move, and if you don\'t absolutely have to go to Eaton\'s Neck, don\'t. BTW, if you are related to any of the handful of cops there, you may speed all you like, my son was in a car with friends and when pulled over for doing 20 miles over the limit, the woman driving simply greeted the officer, told him her father was the \"officer in charge\", and off they went. No ticket, just a \"high-five\". Real fair system, huh??
