Amsterdam is 1-3/10 of a mile long,1 mile of it is 35 mph and clearly posted with large reflective signs,3/10 is 25 mph and posted poorly with small non reflective signs that are unreadable at night and thats where they sit sometimes with their cruiser parked parallel facing oncoming traffic with their headlights on.
Comment (4/2002): Yes, is it! BEWARE! We saw the signs...even saw the cruiser...and made it a point to slow down coming out of the "S" curve...still got a speeding ticket!(12/09/02)...thanks to the *kind* Empire police dept for directing us to take that route! We thought it was a "set up"!!!
Comment (11/2002): The Amsterdam Police does not park with the lights on.And the signs are legal.
Comment (2/2003): If you cant read the signs then you should not drive. Now QUIT WHINNING and pay your tickets. If you would not break the law you would not have any contact with the Amsterdam Police Dept.
Comment (4/2003): The only "law" broken going through Amsterdam is apparently driving through it!We were forewarned that we might get stopped (by the Empire PD who directed us home via the route through Amsterdam)and drove cautiously through, even moreso upon seeing the cruiser..and still...we indeed got pulled over AND got a speeding ticket! Say what you may...this family won't ever visit the area again.
Comment (9/2003): When i went through amsterdam i got pulled over.Yes i was speeding.I was nice to the officer and he gave me a warning. Now please let them do their jobs and leave them alone. Why is it when poeple break the laws and get caught poeple dont like it? Amsterdam cops are nice.
