For speeding the state troopers there will practically throw you in jail unless you pay $$ immediately. The trooper didn't like my answers for my business being there so they had 2 troopers hold me there for an hour and search my car for drugs. AVOID ALL OF OHIO PERIOD!

Comment (8/2003): Athens is a college town with a major university, so the police in the area are very aware of the drug problems that accompany such an atmosphere. I wouldn't say that this experience rings true for all of Ohio, though. My experiences with the Ohio State Patrol have been very good, and I even attended that great university in Athens!

Comment (9/2003): Watch out going down the hill on 33 West(between the East State St. and Columbus Road exits) state troopers are there a lot!

OHP occasionally sets up speed traps along US 33 southbound heading towards Athens. Use caution when proceeding through section of US 33 between Movies 10 and The Plains exit.
