The speed limit is 25mph. They really don't care if you are speeding or not. They have a quota and they do meet it!
Comment (4/2006): Very much agree! The biggest majority of traffic just plain slows down in this area all the time due to FEAR.
Comment (6/2006): I was travelling through Poland last month stopped at the intersection of routes 224 and 616, when my radar detector started to go nuts. It was in the middle of the afternoon in heavy traffic. I then noticed that there was a Poland (not sure if it was Township or Village) cruiser caught up in traffic and slowly inching its way west on 224. Apparently, they now have K-band moving radar there. Why keep it on in such heavy and barely moving traffic, though?
Comment (6/2006): Got caught going 35 in that 25. Shopped there for 30+ years & did not know. They lose cause I will not shop there again. But, looking for any others I can meet at rush hour over there, to go 15 in their 25 zone for all of rush hour.
Comment (6/2006): Have a friend who works PD in that area. States one MPH over 25 with a PA plate you will get a ticket, however they give breaks to OH drivers...5 mph over and THEY get a ticket. Big Break huh? Last year they did over $180,000 in traffic fines for the village/township.
Comment (7/2006): I was once stopped coming into the Village on 224. I was very polite and cooperated. Officer was rude. Asked my age, asked how fast I was going (32 in a 25), ordered me to get out of the car and had me sit in the patrol car as he ran my info. My only ticket in 18 years of driving.
Comment (7/2006): I strongly agree. I travel through Poland, OH often, and am aware of the high presence of speed patrols in the area. Of all the cars I have seen pulled over (many), I have never seen one that did not have PA license plates. Don't know how much the region makes off of speed fines, but I do know they built a brand new municipal bldg. there a couple of years ago. Please Drive Carefully
Comment (8/2006): Poland writes more tickets than 3 larger cities in the area combined!
Comment (8/2006): I have had only two speeding tickets in my 55 years on Earth and both were in Poland.
