Officers will "hide" especially in the area west of town where the four lane hwy reduces from 65 to 45 mph. Also watch out...a few have a tendancy to 'get a little rough'. There is a nightclub on the edge of town -- county officers have been seen hiding in the bushes (literally) to catch patrons.
Comment (6/2006): Officers will also arrest passengers for public intox. if they smell alcohol on the passenger if a driver gets pulled over for any reason. BEWARE....the county officers are the worse...they have the attitude
Comment (7/2006): just complain to a high city or county authority and the department will fall victim to pressure of not able to enforce traffic laws. just one phone call !
Comment (8/2006): Whats the point of having a Designated Driver if these guys are going to throw you in jail. I'm in college and I went to the bar( which was my first, never been in trouble before) had a few drinks before, spent 31/2 hours at the bar left, had my girlfriend drive who hadn't drank at all. We got pulled over, the officer said You guys had anything to drink I said a couple a while back, pulls us both out takes me to jail for public intox, which you spend 6 or 8 hrs in for I spent 12 because the cop wouldn't come sign me out.
Comment (8/2006): The County guys are tough and don't put up with any lip. They are not afraid to put hands on you. Most of the time if you are polite they will be to. But don't get smart with them! The police department has problems and if you complain most of the time they will drop your ticket.
Comment (8/2006): I always was under the impression that if you don't break the law you don't get stopped in the firsr place! So quit blaming the Officers and look at yourself. You're the one at fault, not them! The area these people are talking about is a construction area with two very narrow lanes. So consider this, what if your husband or brother or someone close to you were out there and some idiot came through running 30 miles over and risked killing someone? So stop whining and slow down!
Comment (10/2006): “I always was under the impression that if you don't break the law you don't get stopped in the firsr place!”Wrong impression.“The area these people are talking about is a construction area with two very narrow lanes.”Construction areas are temporary; speed control for profit is permanent.“So consider this, what if your husband or brother or someone close to you were out there and some idiot came through running 30 miles over and risked killing someone?”That isn’t what they enforce because it is so rare. They are looking for the low-hanging fruit of ordinary drivers going with the flow but who are over the under-posted limit.
Comment (9/2006): sounds like the sheriff is getting the job done so i wouldnt break the law
Comment (9/2006): just speed they won't be able to stop you without permission from the city manager.I have called him in the past to get a ticket dropped.
Comment (12/2006): “Waaaaaaaa! Sounds like ya'll need to slow down and observe the law!” –Or lobby for better laws and scientifically-set limits. Let’s transfer all that revenue to the State and see how much they enforce then.
Comment (11/2006): WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Sounds like ya'll need to slow down and observe the law!
