The speed coming west between Garnett and Mingo is 50 mph. Right after you cross the intersection you hit Bixby city limits and a drop in speed limit. However, the sign is hidden by a few trees.
Comment (12/2002): the state law on the grace period referrs to the penalty attached by the tax commision after 30 days, it is Illegal in this state to drive with expired tag weather it be expired 1 day or 30 it doesnt matter if its city, county or state officials who stop you! know your law before you start quoting it
Comment (5/2002): Also, be careful when going through Haikey Creek between 111th and 121st & Garnett. Police are always hanging around there the speed limit is 30 m.p.h. and they are always having inspections for some reason or the other. Also in most towns you have a 30 day grace period for renewing your license not in Bixby be particularly careful through Haikey Creek Park. My husband works for American Airlines and works nights and has been stopped repeatedly while going through the park and asked what he is doing at this time of the morning, give me a break.
Comment (6/2002): Bixby is one of those places you don't want'a go unless you have business there. I've lived there 22 years and they haven't changed a bit. They are now starting to use unmarked cars, so look out. When they have traffic court at night, there is standing room only and the overflow extends into the lobby of city hall. I too, work at American Airlines on night shift and I avoid going into Bixby until I'm almost home, by using the new turnpike. It costs a little bit and it's a couple miles out of my way, but it's worth the peace of mind. Those of us who live and drive the roads daily know a lot of their hiding spots, but if you're a visitor, your not likely to know them.
Comment (8/2002): The state of Oklahoma allows a 30 day grace period to renew an expired car tag. However, any poice department can ticket you for an expired tag.

Police Cars hide behind entrances of the neighborhood. The only way to see them is pull into the neightborhood entrance. You will never see them till they are behind you with their lights on. They are overbearing and think they are vigalanties with chips on their shoulder.

The Bixby police sit there like vultures and nab people coming down Memorial (which is going to get worse now that they've built all of that stuff near 111th & Memorial) at about 50 mph. The speed limit is 40. Cross that line and here they come. There is nowhere to pull people over so they stop them in the right hand lane to write tickets! They cause accidents in their zeal to write a speeding ticket to some teenager in Mom's BMW. There's fancy cars driven down that road attached to big bank accounts. Ca-Ching$$$
