The speedtrap runs approximately from the choctaw indian bingo plaza to the platter exit on highway 69/75. The town population is only 1500 to 2000 people and the number of officers on the police force is around 10.

Comment (7/2002): Type of Radar enforcement: Airplane? I went to college in Durant(5 milesN. of Calera)It takes a whole 5 second to fly from city limits to city limit signs. But warning I read in the local news paper(on the internet) where a local state trooper has his own plane and uses it for traffic. So BEWARE!!! Calera has always been known as a speed trap even 40 years ago. There was a popular radio host who received a speeding ticket and from then on he referred the little town as "Cholera, OK"

The police dept. in Calera is one of the best depts. in the world. They watch people speed for them and they really clean out the drug problem. They have zero tolerance when it comes to drugs. Pay attention to your speed through here, because they are always paying attention.

Calera is one of the biggest pipelines of drug smuggling from Texas into Oklahoma (and vice versa!), as it sits on the border between states. As such the police are very attentive to out of state motorists. They are a very by the book force. Officers are not afraid to draw weapons.

The speed limit is 70 and as you approach the town the limit drops to 65. Before you know it the limit drops to 55 and this is where they nab you. The 55 limit only runs for about 3 blocks. These guys are raking in money from fines faster than they can spend it and are laughing all the way to the bank. They especially target out of state autos

speed limit goes from 70 to 65 and then to 55 with no warning. The 55 zone is about 3 blocks long. Be very careful. These cops are looking to boost their egos along with the city coffers. BTW...The person who earlier said that Calera had the best police force in the world, is a member of the Calera police. No further explanation need

CALERA TICKET RECEIVERS, PLEASE READ! I cannot go into too much detail as I have an ongoing Not Guilty case. However, what I will say is the Calera Police officer caught me after I had driven half the 1 mile distance through their 55 MPH town. He issued me a ticket even though it was obvious I was driving the speed limit. When politely questioned the police officer became confrontational. His attitude + the ease to issue a ticket with questionable merit caused me to search the web to see if this city was classified as a "speed trap." Now, I am currently fighting the ticket, but I have discovered one of Calera's "aces-up-their-sleeves." They don't have to give a trial by jury. The 6th amendment of the Constitution guarantees the right to trial by jury. Our forefathers realize that governments can become corrupt and that's way they guaranteed this right. But somehow, Calera does not have to follow the Consitution. This is a great advantage for them. They can issue tickets, and the judge will just follow the crowd since I'm sure ALL of their salaries are paid directly by these funds. As a result, I am investigating a Civil Suit against the Calera. To make this case viable I will need to prove they target out-of-towners and out-of-state drives. Therefore, I ask any and all drivers to willing give their contact info: name, address, offense, and date of offense. I will use this to get the civil court presiding judge to grant the opening of Calera records so more research can be done. Please email to tmp6138_1@yahoo.com. If you'd like to join as a class action lawsuit, please indicate this desire. Thanks and wish me good luck.

Travlers stay away from Calera, Oklahoma. If you have out of State Tags, you are going to be given a citation even though you are not speeding. The officer that stopped me when I ask him why he had stopped my became very combatant. I did not know where he was going to cite me or shoot me. I was not guilty of speeding, so I ask the Kanagroo Court for a jury trial, well the Town of Calera Oklahoma is above the law they do not allow you a trial by jury as the 6th admendant says. And when you go to the fraud trial it will cost you a $1,100.00 bond to appeal the fine. and no matter what your defence you will be fined. Please route around this town of Calera, Oklahoma.

Speed limit drops to 55 MPH in town. They dont sit on the side of the road very often but are clocking you on the move. My advise: set your cruise to 55 when passing thru Calera.
