These cops are harsh. They hide anywhere! One drives a Carmero, and the other drives a white UNMARKED Crown Victoria. These guys hate anyone who is not from their town.

Comment (12/2002): These "guys" don't hate people. They are just tired of working crashes caused by excessive speed. Simple. Watch signs, Slow down. What is hard about that?

Comment (12/2002): The speed limit is the same whether the cops are there or not. So what does it matter if they hide? Do the speed limit and you won't get stopped. That's a no brainer.

Comment (12/2002): Used to commute from Stillwater to Shawnee every day, did this for four years. Never got a ticket, never got stopped. If you go the limit, you'll be fine - it's the inbred morons trying to go 70 through a small town who get stopped.

Comment (8/2004): You are right Carney is running officers 24 hours a day, I live in Carney all the officers are very professional and all that they care about is the safety of all citizens. Someone has to enforce the laws we can not have people speeding 100 miles per hour through town.

Comment (8/2003): One of the police officers that works evenings pulled me over for speeding which i deserved and was courteous and good looking.Keep up the good work.

Comment (10/2003): I was appropriately stopped here on an October night (2003), driving back from Stillwater. The speed limit does change dramatically and quickly. I was almost out of town (it's more of a dot than a town) when the cop's lights came on. The odd thing was that another police officer asked to see my friend's ID who was sitting in the passenger seat. She complied, but we later realized that the officer did not have the authority to see her ID. Pretty weird, eh? (And no, we had not been drinking.)

Comment (3/2004): I know for fact that the cops in Carney let way more speeders go than they ticket! Their objective is to SLOW people down and keep their town safe. If you speed, they will pull you over. Many times the speeders attitude is what determines if a ticket is written or not! Don't speed....If you do, be polite and you will probably drive off w/o a ticket.

Police target business travelers and college students. Always out at various points in town watching highway traffic however most of the time they are at the bank on north edge of town, near the oilfield business on the south side, or the convience store. Have seen officers as early as 5:30 am to midnight. Lots of complaints were posted here regarding Carney last spring and have disappeared.
