On south Elm there are construction zones with no work being performed, Only orange barrels (our state tree) narrowing the road to two lanes. I was following a wrecker and matching his speed with several cars behind me doing the same. I was stopped and issued a $90 ticket for speeding in a construction zone. When I asked why the wrecker was not stopped the officer told me that the next time he needed a wrecker to clear an accident, he would be waiting for at least an hour. He reduced the ticket to $90 and told me the ticket should have been $180 for speeding in a construction zone.
Comment (12/2003): I have lived in Broken Arrow for several years and have noted the lack of speeding tickets the officers give out. Speeding is not a huge problem here, and the main roads mostly have speed limits of 45mph, and with the traffic, it's hard to drive much faster than that. There is a high police presence at night, and they will stop you if you are doing something to deserve it. For whatever reason, construction projects seem to take less time than the rest of the county.
Comment (6/2004): I gotta agree with previous comment, hardly ever see much enforcement here.
