Comment (3/2003): State Hwy.112 and Zero Street to Pocola City Limits back to City hall. Anytime, but mostly from 4P.m. to 8a.m. Especially on Friday and Saturday Nights when 4 officers work this strip together. Level of Enforcement is Very, Very High. Type of Enforcement is to stop every car coming out of Ark and Ok whether speeding or not. No warnings given. Everything is ticket for something. One mile over the speed in this city is $240. Date: 3/20003
Comment (4/2003): And also by Federal Law they have to have a reason for the stop, if not then they are doing what is called RACIAL PROFILING, and that is illegal...
Comment (4/2003): You know I am from this area of Oklahoma (Panama) and I have never had a problem with being stopped on this section of road, and I work rotating shifts and my days off vary from week to week. I obey the traffic laws and NEVER have gotten stoppped. Sounds to me like some drunks, young kids, and other non-law abiding citizens are unhappy with the fine job that the Police Officers are doing. Go figure--I think that is what they are paid to do......
Comment (10/2003): Well, the Fed's have no jurisdiction to enforce any traffic laws except on Federal property and that includes profiling. The Fed's can "ask" states to pass legislation against RACIAL PROFILING or withhold federal moneys so most states have complied including Oklahoma. Problem is it's almost impossible to prove. All a cop has to do is say he "suspected" you of drugs, ect. and stop you solely on suspicion. Maybe he suspected you or maybe he just wants to screw with you. It's his choice. O.K., so you ask for a search warrant. He holds you until he gets one…..maybe a half day or so. They can play dirty anytime they so desire and there's not much you can do about it. Don't give me this "they are just doing their job" bull. Most of these small town cops "Job" is to write tickets to enhance the city coffers ….sometimes greatly. They are in reality simply traffic cops. Except on state roads, municipalities set their own speed limits. Guess what speed limits you end up with. Even on state roads, state highway engineers take city official's comments into serious consideration and that almost certainly means lower speed limits. I know, I've talked to the state highway people. Why have some of these towns annexed parts of a state highway far away from the main part of their town. I think we all know the answer to that question. OK lets go along with the notion that this traffic is dangerous to a town's population. I purpose bypassing these towns and not allowing them to enforce laws on these state bypass roads. Then stand back and listen to the moaning from these very same people who gripped about all the speeders going through their town.
Comment (7/2004): Just because you got a ticket there because your car had defective equipment doesnt make it a speed trap
