Watch out; a cop will often sit in the parking lot next to Arco gas station and tag people coming westbound from a 50 zone to a 40 zone. He may also sit about 2 blocks east of Arco in a parking lot by the Polaris ATV shop in Cornelius. Cornelius is heavily patrolled by cops but you are relatively safe doing 5 over, especially in heavier traffic when it is more difficult to pick a target.

Comment (9/2003): I agree, I see them in those same spots. We call the City of Cornelius Police, "The Traffic Team." They hand out tickets like crazy for going from 5-11 over the speed limit. People are so worried that they'll get a ticket that they won't look up from their speedometer...and then someone is really going to get hurt.

Comment (07/2008): Thank you ...thank you I read about the nursery on susbuar road and yesterday was the first time I saw the washington count sheriff parked there. He was sitting in the exact spot you described...I looked at him and he looked at me.

He just sitting there waiting for you to gain speed down the hill after passing Long Road. He waits for you in the nursery parking lot facing SW. With all those dang trees in the way there’s no way to slam on the brakes (cool and smooth like) after you notice him. The Beaverton Sheriff gave me a $240.00 ticket. You would think being next to those flowers at the nursery he would at least give me a warning!
