Local police will sit on side streets facing on traffic coming into town. Police don't make much of an effort to hide.

Coming West out of town the speed limit stays 30 well into where normal people are accelerating up to highway speed.

Cops in Amity will get you for even going 1 mph over the speed limit. The speed goes from 55 mph to 40 mph for a few feet to 30 mph through the town. Don't speed up until after you hit the sign outside of town too. Amity cops love to get people accelerating out of town but not quite to that 55 sign.

I recieved a ticket in the third week of August, 2006. I paid $170 for doing 43 mph just after passing the posted 30 mph sign. The officer followed me through town and waited to pull me over after I left town & went past the 40 mph sign. I learned later that the reason he was following me through Amity without pulling me over was to try a catch me a second time speeding back up to 40 before actually passing the 40 mph sign and recieving a second ticket. I was fotunate to only have recieved one ticket that day in Amity, Oregon. At the time that my wife and I were driving through Amity we were looking for a place to eat & were wondering why town was looked so desserted...we know why now!
