A down-hill section of freeway that has just past some major congestion at the top of a hill and many are pulling into a 3rd, exit-only lane. A wide shoulder comfortably allows a patrol car to sit with lights off down near the exit. What's worse is as you come over the hill, big signs restrict vision of this spot until you're already part-way down the hill. But it's got to be a long shot for radar because it's still a quarter mile to the exit!

Dark blue Photo Radar van lurks on this street (in both directions) at various times. Speed limit is only 30mph in places and the street is quite wide, so the temptation to speed is great.

The Canyon Rd exit splits into two. left lane takes you off the freeway, right lane takes you back onto the freeway. the reason for this is to allow cars from another street to enter the freeway. the Onramp part of this little split, on the right side the road goes down than back up. on the right side there is a concrete divider that ends on the bottom of the hill. the officer hides on the bottom right of the hill. right behind the concrete divider (it ends at the bottom of the hill so all he has to do is move a bit forward and he's on the street)

Photo radar by Sexton Mountain school. Limit is school zone here and speed bumps slow you down. South of the school road opens up and I have seen some occasional traps at this point up until Beard rd. North of Hart rd, cops sit in entrance to new housing development. It's very easy to speed here as you are rolling down the hill to the Hart rd stop sign (soon to be light) and they get you as you are going around the curve down the hill

Just before you get to Sunset High School when heading east on Cornell, a white van will set just past the 30mph speed limit sign on the right. It is also downhill just before you get there so if you don't get on your breaks you will be speeding (it is 45 before this zone). I avoided a ticket but the guy in front of me was not so lucky.

Traveling west on SW 5th St. toward Beaverton High School, after crossing over train tracks, there is often a white photo radar van sitting in front of some apartments near the intersection of 5th street and Lombard. The van often sits on the right side of the road where users of the apartments park their vehicles. However, there are often white vans that do not belong to law enforcement parked in this area. Posted speed limit for 5th St. is 35mph, use caution near appartments.

There is a marked photoradar van parked on the side of the road,at the bottom of the sexton mountain park, right before sexton mt road intersects with murray blvd. It's difficult to spot the van when you're going 35mph, the posted speed limit is 30. The van is more noticeable after you're coming out of the curve and this is well in range of the van's radar. Most people get flashed before they can even spot the van.

On SW Teal, the speed limit is 40 mph. On 155th, which is an identical street in appearance and design, the speed is 25 mph. These two streets intersect. At the traffic circle it is easy to transition from the faster street of teal onto the slower street of 155th and not realize that the speed limit has dropped 15 mph! Additionally, Beaverton police will sit at this intersection on motorbike and look for drivers rolling through the all-way stop and failure to yield once within the traffic circle.

As you drive from Cornell on Barnes road towards the Sunset Highway, there's this curve in the road and you'll pass a plant nursery on your left and apartment/condos or your right. There's a bus stop on the right, with enough gravel for a car to park. Sometimes, a white photo radar van sits there waiting for people.

Its right by a school and the library, but the tricky thing is its 20mph all the time versus the other school zones around town where there are certain times of day that the school zone speed limit is in effect. Not sure where they park the van for the photo radar setup, but ticket read the 12200 block of 5th. Note...it is a huge fine ticket, so be careful. Stinks getting that stupid letter in the mail, lemme tell you.

All day all time school zone -- $237 fine. Sign at beginning of zone is partially obscured by a tree branch and is in front of a shopping center with a public swimming pool across the street. The school property is over 1/4 mile long and I had no idea I was driving by a school until well into the school zone. There were no pedestrians present in the whole stretch. The location of the photo radar van stated in the citation is near the beginning of the zone. There is a second school zone sign after the van which I did see. (Still no students at 10 am.)

The Beaverton Police have a van that they go around with to catch people speeding. They frequently put their van on Western Avenue just before the intersection with Allen Boulevard. They are supposed to put out signs that say 'entering a photo radar zone' or something to that effect, but the signs are small and this particular area has a lot of overgrowth on the side of the road which makes it so you cannot actually see the sign. They also park the van in the middle of a bunch of trees and bushes, so you cannot see it either until you are right on top of it. I have not personally gotten a ticket because I am aware that they are there and drive extra-careful, but I have spoken with many people who have gotten tickets in this area. I believe the posted speed limit is 25 miles per hour, but a more reasonable limit would be about 35. (P.S. you guys have an extra check box in the 'type of enforcement field-- there are 5 options and 6 checkboxes.)

Located west of the Highway 8 (Canyon Road) exit, at the onramp from the US 26 truck lane and the Sylvan exit. A Beaverton city cop will park his car at the merge point. He points various forms of radar at cars coming up the hill from the zoo and tunnel. The freeway is 50 mph to this point, but goes to 55 mph immediately after the merge. Most cars are already doing 60+ mph by the time they reach this point. Others who obey the speed limit speed up early in anticipation of the increased speed. Either way, this merge point is a perfect blind spot for a cop to hide from you until it's too late.

Sometimes, there will be two officers patrolling this section of US-26 westbound between Canyon Road (OR-8) and OR-217. One will have somebody pulled over, lulling you into a false sense of security. The second officer will sit in front of or just past the merge to 217 southbound and pick off those who have sped back up, thinking they're safe.

The Beaverton photo radar van will sit in the brake repair shop parking lot on the Southeast side of the intersection of Canyon Road (Oregon SR-8) and SW Cedar Hills Boulevard. The sign saying the area is speed photo enforced is resting against the traffic light pole no more than 10 feet from the van. They place this van a few blocks from when the speed limit drops to 35 from 45. Enforcement is eastbound traffic only.
