Because of the high population of (partying) college kids, and the constantly changing speed limit, the cops have a field day on this road which connects the beaches to Wakefield and Kingston. They hide in the dark.
Comment (7/2002): Yes, this area is a shining example of where freedom in our country does not ring very clearly. A flagrant abuse, the forefathers would be disappointed in the town of Narragansett (as most horses can easily exceed the posted limit in this area). A harsh money-making operation at the expsnse of the People.
Comment (9/2002): Being a URI Alumni member there are usually cops at the Arturo's Rest / Hardware Store parking lot across from Stop $ Shop on 138. Also on 138 there are cops located in a little real estate office just after Arturo's (if you were traveling towards the beaches it would be on your left). Third on 138 is at the garage near cumberland farms (again if going to beaches it would be on right at a large intersection). This looks like the garage hasn't been open for years but don't be fooled! especially at night. Fourth and I am sure not final is the church directly across / diagnol from Cumbie's (Cumberland Farms). The parking lot is on a hill set back so good place for them to hide.

Rt. 108 is completely patrolled by both Narragansett and South Kingstown scrubs. Avoid speeding in front of Mariner Square Plaza, and avoid any speed above 50 when the limit mercifully changes to 45. (But don't forget that when youre heading in the reverse direction.)

This is an old country road. Because it has University of RI campus at the end of it off of South Ferry rd. People tend to speed. The police are hiding in the trees in the small dirt roads it provides. The speed limit is 25 and it is easy to speed, but don't! You have been warned!
