Comment (6/2006): Its very tempting to go beyond the 45mph limit, but make sure you stay around there, especially when heading east and passing Jamestown bridge.

Oliphant Ln., which connects Rt. 114 to 138, has an insanely low 25 mph speed limit. The cop sits behind a chain link fence that outlines the property of the Middletown airport alongside the road. Nearly impossible to see at night.

There is about a 3/4 mile stretch of road in Middletown adjacent to the Portsmouth border. I see a cop in this area setting a speed trap about twice a week. They sit in at the point where one street meets 138, about 500ft past the Portsmouth border catching people moving southbound. They also sit on the opposite side in a field catching people going northbound same distance from the border. They also sit further down the road a bit right near the former Mobil gas station catching people going northbound.
