Any time of the night do not speed... I can not stress how important it is not to speed when heading towards ravanel, or leaving. All they do is ride around their looking for people to pull over.

Comment (9/2003): I work in Ravenel and we have more fatalities on this road than we know what to do with. I don't stop anyone until 13 mile an hour over and mostly the same for my co-workers, 11 at minimum. This does not mean you can even exceed the speed limit by 1 but we aim for the flagrant violators. If you think this is wrong then attend a funeral of a traffic fatality.

Comment (8/2004): I was a caught in this speed trap and it was a very clever set up. The officer stopped me (I haven't had a speeding ticket in 32 years) in a 45 mph zone, within eyesight of a 55 mph sign, and said I was going 49 in a 35. The 35 was behind us. All three speed limit signs (35, 45, 55) are not much more than 50 yards apart ... what a set up!

Comment (2/2005): I cannot stress how important it is to not speed in this area. The enforcement is rediclious with all military personel. The casualities probablilites are high with people that ride bicycles to trian (for a sporting event, like cycling or triathalons) as opposed to people who speed. If you are from another state, like California, you will get pulled over for anything ranging from 2 mhp over too not making the "officer of the law" happy as you pull onto the highway. These are a bored people with acess to power.

Comment (6/2005): I now drive a large truck through this area daily, job related. Used to go through 1x wkly early and or late. There is no "trap" or deceptive signage. Most folks just don't get down to within a +5 when they encounter the first sign. Probably yakking on a phone and end up "blowing though" the area. Was pulled once, my mind was elsewhere, told the officer I was WRONG,(14 over) and got a warning. I sure appreciated that.

Comment (8/2005): At one time, the MOST heinous speed trap in SC. The STATE of SC shut down the local-yokels because of the nature the tickets. Even 3 mph over would run ya' $$$!If you don't believe it....look it up. Happened approx. 15 years ago. Now county bears do the trapping.
