roadway is a connector/ramp leading from Hwy52 to I26 E the speed limit on Hwy 52 is 45mph the entrance ramp (no other intersections)approx .75 miles long leads to I26 E where the speed limit is 60mph. I was ticketed for going 58mph in a 45mph zone, after explaining the confusion the ticketing officer let stand the $180 citation!

Comment (8/2005): Hwy 52 is one of the single most dangerous roads in this area. While there may be indications of a "speed trap", if that causes folks to slow down and take it easy, it could save more than a few lives. The death toll so far at just ONE intersection of Hwy 52 this year exceeds 35 people. Speed trap or not, please be careful on this road.

Comment (12/2004): The limit here was lowered for construction. I just hope DOT doesn't forgot to raise it back after work is done. Charleston County has bad sign maintenance in my opinion (look at US 17 at Bees Ferry...northbound limit drops to 50 and then back to 55...southbound there are no signs.

Comment (4/2005): I was ticketed in the same location the original speed limit signs (55MPH) have been spray painted black like some kid did it. Than with no indication of a speed change down the road about 100 yards or so around the bend you'll find new 45 MPH speed limit signs than the officer on the right side of the road. Beware be very aware!PS They could have just taken down the 55MPH and bolted up the new 45MPH signs in there place don't you think? Looks like a trap to me.

Comment (7/2005): Same thing happened to my family while returning from a Charleston vacation. The highway is eight lanes wide with a speed limit of 45mph. Not common and most travelers unfamiliar with the area would think the speed was higher. We explained that we had not seen a sign from the McDonald's we pulled out of to where we were stopped (less than half a mile away). The city cop showed no sympathy and wrote us a ticket for doing 60mph in a 45mph. Definetly looks like a trap. We saw two cops on each side of the road and they wrote five citations in the ten minutes that it took for us to receive ours.

Comment (1/2006): Regarding the 12/05 comment regarding DOT remembering to raise the speed limit back to the original speed. Voila! Let us all be amazed!

Comment (1/2006): You got sited for doing 15 over the speed limit. There is no excuse for that.

Comment (3/2006): Please be just as careful when leaving I26 onto Hwy52 towards Goose Creek. Police are frequently just over the connector in the median. I see people pulled all times of day, everyday, and for God's sake DO NOT cross the solid white line!
