The cop parked behind the Belk store is actually a mannequin. That's right, a dummy. I'm not kidding. Generally, only large tractor-trailer trucks are ticketed on this 45-MPH stretch of road (and deservedly so).

Comment (4/2004): City of Camden often sets up radar on Knight's Hill Road (This is the same road mentioned above near Belk and WalMart). The speed limit is 45-MPH and DO NOT go over 5-mph over. They stop cars for 6 and 7 mphs over.

Comment (9/2003): The entire Camden area is one big speed trap. The police are totally incompetent a to solving or preventing crime,so they are really over-zealousin harassing motorists.

Comment (11/2003): Just to point out... Camden is home to a SC Highway Patrol Troop. Exit 96 on I-20 I believe is the exit into Camden (Same exit as the military school) and is where all the SCHP officers get on and off. Don't be surprised if you see lights in your mirror around this area. I got an 81 in a 70 on I-20 (100$/4pts reduced to 50$/2pts). Just keep the speed to a max of 5 over throughout Kershaw County and you should be fine. If you do get caught, go to court, they offer to half just about everyones' ticket (Unless you did something stupid like 100+/70).

Comment (7/2004): Highway 97 / Dusty Bend in Camden, is a high patrolled area by the cops

Comment (11/2004): The exit for Camden is Exit 98 on I-20. But City Police have resorted hiding in trees with lights off at night to trap motorists on Springdale & Knights Hill Road. I found this site because I am trying to verify whether such action constitutes entrapment. I need that info in order to fight the ticket.
