Police officers have started setting up speed traps all along Bell Road in Antioch. They hide in bus pull-overs, side streets, really anywhere that they cannot be seen. The speed limit along Bell Road is 45 mph, while most traffic maintains a speed of 55-60 mph.
Comment (11/2005): Specifically at night, they sit in the mall entrance with their lights off, in black clothes, facing east catching eastbound traffic as they come DOWN from the hill where the speed limit is 35. Even the most cautious driver can't stay under 42 at this section unless SLAMMING on the breaks.

Officer sits on side street near William A Pitts Park and catches people coming over the hill from Nolensville Road. Beware if you are traveling above the posted limit of 35 mph. They will nail you for ANYTHING over 40 mph since not to long ago there were a couple of fatalities on this road due to excessive speed. (One estimated in excess of 100 mph in a residential area).

Near the old Garden Ridge building on the opposite side of the street is a pull off area. There is usually a police car there with someone near the car and another office outside the car.

Two motorcycle cops set up on the eastbound side of Bell Road, near the intersection with Blue Hole Road. There is a traffic light at the intersection. The posted speed limit is 45 and the road is wide, with 4 lanes (changing to 6 after Blue Hole Rd.) and a center lane. The cops point their radar guns at the eastbound traffic coming down the hill (with momentum) toward Blue Hole Road. I've seen them set up there at least 2-3 times a month, usually during the morning and lunch hours. I believe they focus on drivers going at least 10 mph over the speed limit. I drive that stretch every day and have only been pulled over and ticketed once - for going 62 in a 45 zone.

Beware Una-Antioch and ALL of its side-streets. They will get you for not stopping "completely" at stop signs too. They tend to wait unitl there is little traffic (late morning, early afternoon, late evening) and LOVE to sit at the bottom of hills. However they're strangely absent around the several surrounding school zones when children are present, for example Apollo (hmm. . . ). You'll see them all week long during quota time. They tend to leave you alone if you're 4 or less mph over the limit. I've had two tickets in ten years and my sister had one before we moved out of Antioch. Best to just avoid Una-Antioch and take Murfreesboro Rd to Bell Rd or to the interstate. At least you know where they hides there!
