Everywhere else on Highway 111 that I know of the speed limit is 65mph, but once you hit Algood,TN it becomes 55. And they will get you for going 55 or 56 so don't get to close to the speed limit. But if you are unfortunate enough to get pulled over don't feel bad when 3 cars pull up behind you to give you a ticket. Every time i see someone pulled over in Algood there are at least two police cruisers with lights on behind them.
Comment (3/2006): I go through that route all the time. the speed limit is reduced in that one area for about a mile and a half and the love to give out tickets. they also love to get you for failure to stop at stopsigns. just be carefull when going through there. they love tickets
Comment (10/2005): Highway 111 has speed limits of 55, 65, and 70. Speed is determined by area. Watch for the speed limit signs.
Comment (11/2005): I live in Cookeville and drive this road daily. This is a definite speed trap. Completely agree. Now that Algood has a Wal-Mart, the police might have more to do than pull people over on 111!
Comment (7/2006): speeding is not the only thing to watch for in algood i was ticketed for failure to dim headlights even though it was thrown out in court it cost me time from work best advice is to avoid algood if at all possible
