They tend to stay in the heart of Bartlett. But the speed limits are from 30 to 40 mph so stay that speed when your in Bartlett. Tickets start at $85.00 for 0-5 mph over and goes up from there. If you decide to go to court it can raise the price of the Ticket by $15.00 and they Hardly ever let people off. Also Seatbelts are a factor that is a $65.00 ticket that can be added on to a speeding ticket. So drive safe.

Comment (7/2003): I've heard Bartlett cops are notorious but this is RIDICULOUS. One or more of them (I suspect one lives in a nearby duplex since I've seen the car parked overnight unoccupied) sits in a 3 block stretch right before you leave Bartlett to enter Memphis on Covington Pike where the speed limit drops from 45 to 40 and then suddenly jumps back up to 45 again. We protested that the last sign we saw said 45 and he had a prepared answer about the 3 blocks where it drops down to 40 as if he had rattled it off a million times.Seems to me like some fluke in zoning when the streets were constructed and now the Bartlett cops have a field day tossing out tickets to Memphians passing through day in and day out.At least our cop was polite and professional.

Comment (8/2003): Stage Road, east of Covington Pike, is in Memphis on the south side of the street, and in Bartlett on the north side of the street. Eastbound from Covington Pike to the entrance of old Bartlett is in Memphis and is 45 mph. Westbound in the same area is in Bartlett and is 40 mph. Beware.

Comment (10/2003): Soccer complex on Bartlett Blvd. just over the viaduct from Stage Rd. Stay below 50 in this 40mph zone. Sometimes they park a couple of blocks further north.

Comment (3/2004): I totally agree, I got one for 7 miles over, went to court and was a waste of time, ended up costing me more, this was my only ticket, they are hard to beat...

Comment (6/2004): Agreed! Also watch out for Elmore Road which is a well known trap at all times of the day!

Stage Road is Infamous for Speedtraps, from the intersection of Singleton Parkway to Kirby-Whitten Road there are always one or two Bartlett Police cruisers awaiting anyone going over 3 mph over the speed limit. On mile East of Singleton Parkway is their station, so they set up close. There are plenty of hiding spots and they are random about where they set up. One of the major things they really get is motorcyclists for using loud pipes ($150 fine) so Harley Davidson Riders need to be really cautious.

Traveling north on Bartlett Boulevard, as you are cresting the top of the railroad overpass and moving on the downhill side causing an increase in speed. Bartlett Police will sit/hide in the trees, located in the soccer park, to the right side of the road. It is very sneaky since an increase in speed is to be expected since vehicles are going downhill when clocked.
