The troopers in this area think its funny to give tickets to college kids on their way home or back to school. Don't speed in the town of Post.

Comment (6/2002): The answer is simple...don't speed.

Comment (1/2003): Watch out around the town of Snyder also. I talked my way out of an 80 in a 70 by being polite and and old guy. College kids arn't usually so lucky.

Comment (1/2003): This is all true. Every time I travel through Post (on my way to or from Texas Tech), my radar detector goes off and I see an officer shortly thereafter. They are usually hiding on the first side road off of 84 upon entering the town when you are headed towards Lubbock from Abilene. And yes, they tend to be predjudiced against college students, so if you don't have college emblems posted all over your car (like I do), you may be lucky in avoiding a ticket!

Comment (1/2003): Another area to be especially careful is where Highway 84 breaks off from I-20. There is usually a cop hiding there on the Highway 84 side. Synder has by far, the largest concentration of highway patrol. Once approaching Synder going away from Lubbock - slow down AT ONCE!! One advantage you have on Highway 84 is that almost all of the road is flat and straight ahead. Pay attention to what is ahead in the distant horizon and a lot of times you will do OK. Be wary of any vehicle that is white, a Chevy Caprice Classic, and generally driving slower than it should be on the right hand side of the road. As a former Texas Tech student, I hope these tidbits help.

Comment (2/2003): Texas Tech students are targeted to and from boring drive Lubbock to DFW area, especially coming off school holidays. They know thousands are heading to/from Lubbockville and lay in wait. Friend of mine going Tech got nailed in Post.
