When you are traveling down Bethany Road between Jupiter and Allen Hieghts, becarefull they sit in the cultasacks that can be visible from bethany but not connected then they radio either a Motorcop or a Ford Police Intercepter give the discription speed and distance from them then you get pulled over if you get the scorpion scrambler/ radar/ laser detector you should be able to get a fair enough space to slow down before he can clock you.

It's 40 mph until you get close to Jupiter then it turns to 35mph. There are so many teens driving this road at 60-70 mph and this is ridiculous! The officer will sit at the last entrance to the Allen Presbyterian hospital and clock you, then exit and immediately get on the freeway. I have received over 3 tickets from the same officer at about the same time. He will claim you were going 70mph when you really were only going 65mph.

Allen Office seats in tree covered private driveway on So. side of McDermott, 1 to 1.5 ,miles W. of Alma, tracking E. bound traffic at the bottom of a hill. Speed is posted at 45 mph, will ticket for anything above 55 mph and should !! Traffic at many times reaches 65 and above, this is much too fast for the road and should be monitored. Be aware, Offices also seat at many of areas monitoring traffic on the McDermott, they also travel with traffic and monitor while rolling. There have been several bad accidents in this area, all due to speed and cross-traffic. It looks as if the speed limit was set for cross-traffic problems as this is a residental area. Also, be aware, the speed limit is reduced to 40 mph, 1 mile E. of Allem on McDermott in the Waters Crossing area at the bottom of the hill at the traffic light, is also monitored by Allen PD seating on Waters Crossing cross street.

Motorcycle units and patrol cars sit on cross-streets. They will sometime wave you over after clocking you.The lasers they use are not detected by detectors(I've used three types). In thier defense, people go WAY over the posted 30mph and the residents are on thier backs I have been told

Cops sit between Timberbend Trail and Country Lane. Because the street is long and straight, they can tag you at VERY long distances! They tagged me at approx. 2000ft! It is a big trap! The street is rated at 30mph, but it should be rated at 60mph or more. Call the Mayor and demand the speed limit be raised!

On McDermott between Custer and Alma, there are always officers hiding in the brush and I've eve seen them on private driveways clocking people! I would have to say they are there at least twice a week, the exact location varries slightly, but keep watch in this area.

Comment (2/2003): I only wish more police officers would patrol this area. People fly be doing at 50-60 mph and the speed zone is 35-40. There have been so many accidents because of speedy and road rage with the teen drivers (mainly teen males) You go get the blue.

Comment (2/2003): I have never received a ticket at this location, but I would love to see more police officers taking control of the speeders and the road-rage on this road strip. It's 40 mph until you get close to Jupiter then it turns to 35mph. There are so many teens driving this road at 60-70 mph and this is ridiculous! I am not clear on how many wrecks have taken place in the year of 2002, but it has defiantely increased by speeders and people talking on their car phones. I'm with the police officers on this one because I know childre and will have a neice in school next year on this road. All it takes is one speeder not paying attention and the child is seriously injured or killed. Would you rather have a ticket or would you rather have killed someone. This is very real because I called the police dept in Allen & requested more officers be dispatched on Bethany Road. They are only trying to keep our roads safer. Leave them alone.

Comment (2/2003): I don't know why it take my first one. I wish more police officers (I personally) have requested more be around especially when the children are getting out of school. You have a 40 mph & a 35 mph zone and 9-10 drivers will go at least30 mph over the speed limit and this is ridiculous.
