The posted speed limit is 70mph but the officer in the unmarked chevyimpala charged me with going 80 in a 65 mph pace which makes it look to me as though I was actually 15 mph over the speed limit instead of 10 mph. A good way to make extra cash for the county eh? He was hiding in the group on the right going 65mph.

Comment (4/2002): actually the speed limit is 65 mph on I-81

Comment (6/2002): Remember there are no speed limits above 65 mph anywhere in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Right or wrong, that is the way it is. Be careful out there.

Comment (7/2002): I would like to know where the speed limit is posted as 70 anywhere in Virginia! Granted, it's about time that it should be 70 outside of major urban areas. What's wrong with VA? Every other state from VA south and west has speed limits at 70 on interstate highways.

Comment (6/2003): All that have stated that there are no speed limits in the Commonwealth of Virginia above 65 MPH are correct. I am in the General Assembly and I support 70 MPH but others disagree.
