a Local Bristol City Police Officer Sits in a Parking Lot Just Past Sonic, Its a Semi Blind Curb, The next thing you see is 2 Parking Lights and then, You Guessed it, Pretty Shiney Blue and Red Lights Behind ya if you aren't going 35 MPH Or Below

Comment (7/2003): While my experiences with the Bristol police have generally been excellent (they're mostly a bunch of really nice guys), I'm curious as to why they bother with speed traps (the one mentioned is only one of several). I would much prefer to have my tax dollars go towards reducing the crime in my neighborhood rather then paying somebody to sit parked in the dark somewhere with a radar gun. If that's all they do then maybe we have too many police and it's time to let some go and reduce taxes.Generally, everybody in Bristol drives like they're practicing for their funeral procession anyway.

Its Probably the Same Officer but if you keep your Eyes Ahead (Not Looking for the other Speed Trap on the Same Road), You'll see him Quite Clearly Before he has time to Zap you ... Thank God Again for Undetectable Radar Detectors

A Bristol Virginia cruiser is usually sitting in a vacant lot on the west side of Randall Street Expressway about two blocks north of the Mary Street intersection. I've only seen him after 9pm.

One of the Bristol Virginia Police Dept. hide-aways is in the ball park parking lot beside the Quik Stop on E.Valley Dr. As you go over the only hill, there is a parking lot on your right and they sit back in there with there lights off. The speed limit through that area is 35MPH. Anything over 38MPH and you loose. Thats generous for Bristol too!

Coming up Old Airport Road from Exit 7, towards Bonham road, you'll pass the Sonic restaurant on your left. As you go through the curve past Sonic, the Bristol PD will run radar about half a mile up the road on the left. The speed limit is 35MPH, but I get away with 40MPH all the time. Much faster than that & they'll probably get you. I see them out all times of day, but heaviest during AM/PM rush hours.

At the intersection of Old Airport Rd & Bonham Rd is a soccer field. As you turn up Old Airport Rd, towards King Mill Pike, the Bristol PD likes to sit in the gravel parking lot of the soccer field. They're usually hidden by the pine trees around the lot, so you don't see them 'till you're past. The posted speed limit is 35MPH, but 40MPH seems fine. They mainly run radar here in the mornings.
