Constable and Sheriff, who are paid from from fines collected. Mt. Tabor collects a good part of its income from fines. Out-of-state cars more than cars with Vermont plates seem targeted. Coverage is sporadic but intense when it occurs. Route 7 is the principal north-south highway west of the Green Mountains, so tourist travel is steady year-round and a productive corridor for local law enforcement. Public safety is the fig leaf that covers the real purpose of their periodic rounding up of speeders, revenue enhancement.

Comment (9/2004): I can attest to this 100%. I got tagged in Mt Tabor at the Citgo station intersection by an unmarked car. It was a black racing car with turbo! The bus and car in front of me were VT plates but he chose the out of stater, me. After the ticket, he turned right back around to his spot for his next prey.
