Saw 3 WSP cars on the southbound on-ramp with 2 more ahead with people stopped. I didnt see anyone with a laser or radar so I think they must be using aircraft. Slow down in this area, they just dropped the speedlimit to 60.

Comment (3/2006): This speed trap basically extends all the way south to Rush Road. They will sit in the median at a variety of places in this 20 mile stretch and bust people with the new speed limit.

Comment (10/2006): On December 14th, 2005, the speed limit on I-5 from milepost 72 to 82 in Lewis County was lowered to 60mph. This stretch of Interstate was lowered from the previous 70mph zone due to a large number of collisions within the short distance. This is a rural area that has been 70mph for years and years and a place where 60mph would not be expected. The signs used for this change are new yellow diamond signs that do not actually state "Reduced Speed Ahead" like most other signs on I-5 in Washington state. This was the first place they were implemented. The DOT did not install red warning diamonds on top of the signs like all other signs have in Washington State on I-5. These signs are also not displayed anywhere in the 2006 Driver's Guide, but the older signs are. This area is being aggressively enforced even though the public has not been properly informed about these new type signs. In addition, the WSP Chief of Police even states on their web site "A large percentage of those contacted stated they didn’t notice the new signs and assumed it was still a 70mph zone" yet no one in Lewis County has done a thing to address the problem of the new signs. Lewis County is quite a depressed looking area. I wonder if this is how they generate cash to keep things running.
