Police are very vigilent on trip into Northern Wisconsin at this city. They will sit at side of interstate and under viaducts in and around Eau Claire like no other city on 400 miles of interstate from Illinois state line into Northern Wisconsin. Do not exceed 8 miles over speed limit on this area of interstate.If out of state they take credit cards and tell you if you plead guilty they do not report your arrest to your state. You will be arrested if you do not watch your speed in this speed trap city.

Comment (9/2003): I agree, be especially careful within the city limits, there are very few signs indicating a 25 mph speed limit, but if you exceed it, be prepared to get a ticket.

Comment (7/2003): The downtown area is like a hornet's nest. Beware of doing anything more than the posted limit. Also if you drive a "nice" car, expect to be pulled over within 5 minutes of being spotted by a officer. Appearently, no one under 25 is allowed to have a nice car in this town without it being obtained by illegal means (or so they like to think). Please use extreme caution when going through this area.

Comment (4/2004): I have seen the most intricate speed trap with 4 Highway Patrol cars just outside the city on I94. They were all hidden in a ditch in the median with one cop manning the LIDAR and 3 chasing down speeders. There was no possible way to see the trap coming.

Comment (5/2004): as previously stated don't go downtown if your doing anything illegal. don't look at the cops if you see one. if you look they'll pull you over. if its late at night you will be pulled over no matter what if your under 25. basically id avoid the city at all costs if possible.

Comment (6/2004): Are you people flying through the town at 20 over or something? I drive past the police station 2 times a day doing 10 over and never get pulled over. Do watch out on the interstate where as that is state patrol jurisdiction...

Comment (9/2004): I've been pulled over a couple times heading North on 53, right after the bridge. Warning tickets only, for doing 50 in a 45 zone, but it WAS after 2:00 AM both times..

Comment (5/2005): all i can so is go out in the country dudes. if you want to speed. i live in eau claire and no alot of cops. there not to bad. but one time i was goin to a party and my bro was driveing. we went past north star and a cop was sitting in the parkng lot and he was doing three over and the cop pulled him over

Comment (6/2005): That's about right. They are looking for anything to pull you over, not just speeding. Any car modification and they will pull you over.

Comment (12/2007): The new one is they sit just over a hill with their lights on and if you don\'t or can\'t get over into the left lane they fine you 269.00 and three points for failure to go around an emergency vehicle.
