Watch out for Belleville Police Officers one guy will write you a ticket for doing as little as 9 miles over the speed limit. This section of the highway on HWY 69 goes from 55 to 35 and to 25 for a long distance. The cops sit at Main and North Grant with radar. One cop writes many tickets on a monthly basis at this location. The Belleville Police has all kinds of cool gear, quess where the money comes from??

Comment (6/2004): The Belleville Police department has pulled me over for going 35 in a 25 ... as someone who is not from Wisconsin I had no idea that the speed limit had changed! The officer approached my windown and demanded that I hand him 77 dollars or he would throw me in jail! It is an outrage - he would not even listen to my situation. He was incredibly rude and threatening until I handed over my money. Then he had the audacity to tell me I had a nice car. This speed trap is disgusting and has to be stopped.

Comment (6/2004): I agree! I just got a ticket for going 34 in the 25. I had just notcied the sign and was slowing down as I passed it and the cop was hiding under a tree over the hill. Guess what the first thing the cop said to me was? "Hi, do you have $77 dollars with you today?....No?....Oh then I will have to throw you in jail?" When I protested that I had no money he went back to his car, waited about 15 minutes then came back and asked if I had figured out a way to get 77 dollars!I told him I had a credit card and he said nope they don't take credit cards and that I should get out of the car and go with him. Well my girlfriend and I thought he was just bluffing but I guess not! So she started yelling at him and then she said she could write a check out. So he goes "Ok!" and he kindly tells her whom to write the check out to and we were on our way. This was my second ticket in wisconsin in only two weeks, it sucks.
