Ashland local police patrol this main drag very frequently. They look for Michigan vehicles since they do not have front license plates and Wisconsin does, so they stand out. GO THE SPEED LIMIT. It drops to 25 by Hardee's and the patrol with an SUV and vehicles regularly. I was slowing to 25 and the SUV turned around (I was eastbound) and he pulled me over doing 27. I had Indiana plates at the time (no front plate), but I'm a Wisconsin native, so I know of the trap. He saw my driving record was from Wisconsin and did not give me a ticket or warning.

Comment (1/2006): I lived there for 8 years. It is definatly a speed trap on US 2 going through Ashland. A resident or not! The speed limit drops without warning from 35 to 25 and they watch it with much regard. Living there or not you will get ticketed. I never was, but then I knew about it. But blieve me 25 means 25. Good Luck.

Comment (9/2005): The SUV is not equipped with RADAR, the Crown Vics are, but people often do 35 through here with no serious problems. Cops usually let it slide.

Comment (7/2006): Yes us 2 in ashland but bayfeild county is realy bad west of ashland on 2 and hwy 63 south DON"T go over 7 miles per hour or you'll be cooked.
