Speed changes 65 to 40 to 30 to 20 (school zone, will stop you anytime of day if over 20, even when is out during summer), back to 30 until you to I-80. At I-80 speed increases to 45 and then baack to 30 into town, this is within 2 miles stretch. Watch for the cops at the Beanery Resturant. Cops are very arrogant, $100 is the only thing they are interested telling you. Out-towners be very careful, they figure you will not come back fight the charge and they have your 100 bucks. Built a church in town, but will never be back due to ego cop.
Comment (1/2004): Mayor will not answer your letter. Good little town to stay a little town.
Comment (10/2004): the Laramie cops are very good at being leniant towards out-of-state drivers. They have to be. 15 % of UW students are out-of-state. I am from Montana, and sped a lot through Laramie, having never got pulled over in four years.
Comment (2/2005): I graduated from UW a couple of years ago, and used to live out off of hwy 230. I drove this stretch every day and the speed changes are a little overboard, and heavily patroled, but I have never had a proble when going a little over. I have seen many pulled over though. As far as pulling you over in the school zone when the light isn't flashing, I have never had a problem with this. Everytime I went to school the light was not flashing yet, and I passed many cops with no problems.

Cop sitting on street, Speed limit 30. It is a straight road except for two curves, non-residential zone, SL sohuld be 45 mph. Very easy to speed in between Snowy Range and the beginning of the residential zone if you don't pay attention to speedometer. WyoTech students constantly busted, but my mom also got a ticket.

On N 15th street going from Harney to Reynolds, as you go up a small hill, the speed limit changes from 30 to 25 and there will often be a car at the top of the hill waiting for speeders. Being that there is a school on this hill, the officers are not very lenient.
