The community has three part time ploice officers including the Chief. They can't be any fairer giving the motorists 20 mph over the speed limit . the speed are graduated from 55-50 t0 40 mph leading into town. Speed trap I don't think so yea its a speed trap the speeders get caught.
Comment (11/2003): I was stopped in Castleberry for speeding. I told the officer that I did not realize the speed limit had changed, because I had traveled such a long distance on open highway (posted 55) and running a little more. Anyway, the officer pointed out to me that the speeds decrease from 55 to 50 to 40 then 50 to 55 while going thru town and that the town had done all they could to help with the speed limits. They increased the standard 40 mph signs to a much larger sign like that on the interstate when you reach the 40 zone and also told me that they give motorist 15-20 mph over the posted limit on the highway. (But don’t take advantage of their generosity, because they do not have to do this.) I can’t say that this upset me, as I was wrong, the officer was doing his job. However he did not issue me a ticket and was very friendly. Give them a wave when you go thru, you will be surprised, they usually wave back with a smile.

30 is pretty rediculus for a town of only about 500. The one Castleberry cop and frequent state troopers like to hide at intersections anywhere in the town limits and rake in the money. Luckily, they all use radar that is so powerful, you can pick it up in plenty of time to slow down. You do want to slow down to some extent because some people pull out in cars that struggle to make 30...
