These guys must have been trained by the Chinese army they come at you in droves the speed limet on US11 IS 55MPH BUT THROUGH THE SHORT STRIP OF Argo's town limets it is 50 don't be caught still doing 55 or you well be helping make his payday their's not much busness in this town for revenue but speeding tickets make there day.
Comment (8/2003): US Hwy 12 runs adjacent to Hwy 11 in Argo. Police Enforcement of speed limit is almost around the clock. They have written hundreds of tickets on this road, especially at the bottom of a steep hill where drivers are more vulnerable and likely to be over the speed limit of 40. Offices attribute this to safety, but the amount of tickets written is excessive. Avoid this area if at all possible.
Comment (4/2005): Watch your speed at the bottom of Goodner Mtn. Road and at the bottom of the hill on Co. Rd. 12 before you reach Margaret. If you are a speeder good luck driving through without getting stopped.
Comment (4/2005): Police officers slow down! They dont care who you are. Citizen's, dont feel bad, they even right other police officers tickets.
Comment (2/2004): ARGO is notorious for tickets! Slow down and be ready to be profiled. It is amazing this department hasn't been shut down for ethics violations.
Comment (9/2004): i hate driving through argo...i feel very violated because no where else i have ever driven do i feel that way. They need to wake up and realize they will be busted one day.
Comment (4/2005): Watch out while traveling Hwy. 11 South going into Trussville. Argo Police are sitting in the entrance to Carrington Subdivision (which is in Trussville) and are running radar back towards Argo wich is a quarter mile away if not farther. As a former police officer, I know for a fact that radar will not work from that distance. But they seem to make it work for there revenue.
Comment (5/2005): If you are not speeding watch out! they will get you for driving to close. Our imtimidate you by following too close to help you along.
Comment (6/2005): Well how is this for Argo my son and his friend was coming through Argo and ran out of gas in my car my sons friend was driving and got out to go get some gas someone picked him up and so my son waited and thought well he would go to try and get some gas himself although he does not have a drivers license he was afraid the car would be towed so he started walking and the friendly cops from Argo and picked him up and ran him through there computer and he had a probation violation from Hoover Al so they picked him up and gave him a ticket for driving without a license duh he was walking when they pick him up and then they went back to my car and proceeded in ripping the car apart looking for whatever and found nothing. Well to make a long story short not only don't speed through Argo but don't walk without a license.
Comment (03/2010): The whole city is nothing but a trap. One mile over and you are getting a ticket and like someone else said they will even ticket other cops and their families for one mile over. Obviously they were not taught professional courtesy in the Academy. Cops and their families are not above the law but this just shows just how desperate these \"barney-five\" guys are. The probably even carry the bullet in their pocket......

Argo Police are sitting in Carrington Subdivision (which is in Trussvile)they are running radar back towards Argo which is atleast a quarter mile away if not farther. As a former police officer I know for a fact that radar does not work at that kind of distance. But somehow Argo seems to make it work for revenue.

Margaret road from Argo to Margaret is aproximately 4 miles. The most pervasive trap is at the bottom of the hill approaching the Margaret city limit sign. You must ride your brakes to maintain the 40 mph limit. The Argo police will follow you into Margaret to give you the ticket for exceeding the limit. Also, if your car touches the yellow center line twice during the 4 miles(curves and hills) you may be stopped for reckless driving.

My family and I were coming home from a baseball game when we were pulled over by an Argo police officer. We were speeding but only by 3mph it was a 45 and we were going 48 this paticular police officer was sitting in a driveway of a home couldn't see him from the road and again it was 3mph.

My brother was pulled over b/c mufflers were loud the police officer asked him for license and registration he said okay but that he would have to reach in the glove box for his registration and didn't want to alarm him b/c his pistol was stored there. He handed the officer his license and pistol permit and before he could get his registration the officer asked him to step out of the car so he could search the vehicle. My brother did as he asked the officer called for back up and several more officers showed up they searched the vehicle found nothing and issued him a ticket for illegal mufflers which were not. My brother planned on fighting the ticket but the actual Judge called him and threw it out along with the ticket b/c the officer didn't have the legal right to pull him over. This was great but be very careful when driving through this town b/c these officers really have let their positions go to their heads.
