Black and white units patrol around Almansor Park. This city depends heavily on ticket writing for funding. Constantly looking for any reason to stop and write exploitive tickets whether moving violations or not. Be aware in this city!
Comment (6/2004): I always see a motorcycle cop at the intersection Valley Ave and New Ave. hiding (eastside) behind the United Bank just waiting for anyone. He can see the traffic lights and most people can't see him in the shades of the building/trees.

This trap is commonly used to ensnare "no left turn" violators coming of of the Alhambra shopping center on E Valley Boulevard. Using the west exit of the shopping center (located on the east side of S Almansor Street) to turn left (and heading southbound) onto S Almansor Street is prohibited. However, the posted sign is apparently inadequate warning for motorists as they are regularly caught during daylight hours for ignorantly turning left where it is restricted. If the illegal left turn was made more prominent or the information that that is a "no left turn" location, motorists (the vast majority) would simply alter their driving accordingly. The numbers caught (basically the local police are using private driveways to camp out; they are located on the west side of the street on S Almansor Street) are not normal and is one of the main sources of revenue in traffic stops for the city. When the police have an officer directing drivers to pull over for tickets, you basically have a revenue producing trap on your hands. Speeding may be enforced, but the "no left turn" schtick is much easier and more profitable. Comments may be made to enhance posting. Perhaps someone can find out the GPS coordinates of this trap.
