25 mph is town posted speed limit. Enforcement is heavy. The police budget has tripled in 3 years to 950,000.00. The Police here have a unique advantage; the town is split among two different counties, with two different court systems. They profile and target young drivers and visitors with out-of-state tags who come to snow-ski and spend money.
Comment (3/2006): Enforcement is not high for the amount of people that travel to Beech Mtn. The Town does not recieve any money from traffic violations and more people with NC tags get citations than out of state. Ski Season lasts just 3 months out of the year, I dont think they profile anybody.
Comment (6/2006): You need to do your research on where your money goes for tickets. The fines go the General School Fund and the court cost, of course, goes to the Court System. The reason the police budget tripled in the last 3 years is due to the taxes the citizens of Beech Mountain pay each year so you will have a nice place to come and vacation and ski.
