Officer sits in a school parking lot with a radar gun and catches motorists coming down a hill for going over the posted speed limit. The area is a designated school zone but not easily identifable until its too late.
Comment (3/2006): This trap has been in effect for over 1 year. There are two elementary schools at this intersection and 25 MPH limit while children are present. I travel on this road daily during my AM commute and see patrol officers at least once a week. Its especially a problem for those going West on Nohl Ranch Road when one is heading down hill. My recommendation is to place your car in a low gear until you pass the schools/intersection. Once you pass the schools you've re-entered the City of Orange which does not appear to treat this area as a speed trap.
Comment (6/2006): I got a ticket coming down this hill. The speed limit changes immediatly to 35 at the top of the hill. Bam,he's got you.

I hesitate to call this a trap, more like stepped up enforcement. A couple of days after a fatal accident near this intersection, a cruiser with a K-band gun was parked in this area in the entrance to a housing tract, on the north side of Nohl Ranch. My Passport gave plenty of warning. On a personal note, I live in the area and drive a fast car, but I don't speed here because of blind cross streets and fairly heavy traffic. As James Dean said, "Drive safely because the life you save may be mine."

241 Toll Road is a favorite spot for speeders, as there is usually little to no traffic at all. Going southbound leaving the 91 freeway you go up a very big hill and pay the toll at the top of the hill. After the toll plaza, there is a very big downhill that people take advantage of to test the limits of their vehicles. Speeds have gotten up to 140 mph and beyond. But at the very bottom of the hill there is a curve, and a CHP unit is usually sitting there with his radar on, waiting to nab people flying down that hill! The same applies going northbound on the 241 Toll Road; people are known to fly down the other direction of the hill very fast towards the 91 freeway, and at the bottom of that hill right before the 91 east and west fork, there is a strip of road for authorized vehicles only, and a CHP vehicle is usually parked there with his radar on, waiting to nab people flying down that hill too!
