Badin is a very small mill town. It has a very low crime rate which gives the officers time to sit on the highway and wait for anyone going even a few miles an hour over the 35 posted limit. 35 is a reasonable speed as there is a pedesterian crosswalk and a lake front beach/park. None-the-less many 37 mph tickets are being issued.
Comment (4/2002): City police aggressively ticket speeds in excess of 25 mph in all areas of the small town. Radar over a blind hill at the golf course coming into town in a speed zone which changes from 35 to 25 at the top of the hill is particularly arrogant.

Entering Badin on Valley drive off 24/27 the speed limit changes from 55 to 45 to 35 and finally to 25. The change from 35 to 25 occurs within a very short distance of a blind hill into town at the golf course. Town police actively use radar at the bottom of the hill to ticket the speed transition over the hill into town. There is only one sign to indicate the change in speed. The 35 to 25 transition is enforced to the exclusion of the other speed transitions.
